Child abuse is prevented when communities support and educate parents. B.A.B.E.S., Inc. is committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect by providing safe, no-cost respite care, educational support and services, and counseling to young families.
Working collaboratively in our community, the likelihood of increased neglect and abuse numbers decrease because we are focused on employing a proven curriculum, support services, and measures for development.
In 2019, B.A.B.E.S., Inc. implemented the Strengthening Families Workshops. With this evidence-based parent education program, parents learn to meet children where they are, to understand appropriate age behaviors, and to ignore or address certain behaviors. Children learn to improve communication skills, to create good behaviors, and to develop their coping and problem-solving skills.
Active program participants are eligible to receive Economic, Education, and Emotional Wellness & Support services from B.A.B.E.S., Inc.
Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote goodness or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual.

A. utilizes B.A.B.E.S.’ services while furthering her education. The young mom of four says that B.A.B.E.S. is “a really good program” that she’s been telling others about. “B.A.B.E.S. helped when I needed personal hygiene items, toilet paper, and dish soap; I had no money.” A. brings her two-year-old daughter to B.A.B.E.S. weekly. “She loves B.A.B.E.S.; it’s so welcoming and such a good environment. When I know she’s happy being there, it makes me comfortable, too.”
“Babes has given me great parenting tools and community resources. The staff at Babes have built a healthy relationship with my son. He is always looking forward to going there weekly when I take him for respite care. They have helped give me the free time I need to run errands & get alone time, which is rare as a single mom.” – Ashley H.
Twenty-seven-year-old C. was very happy to learn about B.A.B.E.S.’ offerings through a local children’s event earlier this year. A busy mom of three whose military husband has been away for more than a year, C. brings her children, ages 7, 4, and 1, to B.A.B.E.S. for weekly respite so that she can grocery shop, go to appointments, or just take a much-needed break. She also participates regularly in skill building sessions for positive parenting. “B.A.B.E.S. gives me time away from the kids to help preserve my sanity. If I fall short (of household supplies) for a month, I know B.A.B.E.S. can help back me up. B.A.B.E.S. is part of my overall support system in life.”
