Our Founder

The dream continues and her legacy lives on.

A young , female minister heard the call of God. She made the sacrifice and commitment to begin a Christian ministry in the city of Appleton. Dr. G. Manns not only founded Appleton Sanctuary Outreach Ministries in 1992, but she went further to establish B.A.B.E.S., Inc. Child Abuse Prevention Program in 1997. She was the President and Founder of B.A.B.E.S., Inc. and the Founder and Senior Pastor of Appleton Sanctuary when she passed away on January 8, 2013.

We celebrate the legacy of Dr. Manns as an extremely talented, creative, thoughtful, and impactful woman in our community. She was a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister to her family members.

Dr. Manns was committed to the vision that God gave her for ministry through both Appleton Sanctuary and B.A.B.E.S. Her life was wholly committed to God, His purpose and calling. Because of her deep faith and commitment, the local community watched her sacrifice in giving, serving, and living.

It is our hope that our community always remembers the time, sacrifice and commitment that established the services and programs afforded to our community by both Appleton Sanctuary and B.A.B.E.S., Inc.

In keeping with the wishes of Pastor Manns, donations may be made to support BABES, an organization dear to Pastor Manns and her family.

In the same year, she was nominated for a JC Penny Golden Rule Award for volunteer service.

Currently, Pastor Mahnie serves as the Executive Director of B.A.B.E.S., Inc. They have helped with presents and the care packages. They have also taught me a lot with my personal relationships. I will forever be grateful for Pastor Mahnie and everybody else at B.A.B.E.S. They have helped so I don’t have to worry about finding money to buy those things or worry about not having hygiene products for myself or my daughter. – Megan

First and foremost, the staff is amazing! Feels great to have an extended family. Workshops, respite care, and care packages go a long way and help tremendously. Care packages and diaper bank have been lifesavers when I fall short or run out. I am truly blessed to have the love and support. – Curtis

I have utilized the personal counseling sessions to improve my mental health. The free Christmas toys [from Holiday Workshops] also warm my heart, and makes my family feel cared about. I also love diaper bank and care packages, because it helps me have extra money to budget. Care packages and diapers are so helpful especially the eort BABES has put in to still help families during COVID, relieves stress, provides a sense of community. – Brouse
